Following the meeting between US President Donald Trump and Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa, attended by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, in Riyadh on Wednesday, the Syrian Foreign Ministry confirmed in a statement posted on its Twitter account that the meeting between al-Sharaa and Trump in Riyadh addressed the fight against terrorism.
The statement added that the meeting between Sharaa and Trump also addressed the elimination of foreign militias, ISIS, and other groups.
For his part, Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Sheibani affirmed that the meeting was an achievement for the Syrian people.
Al-Shaibani added in a post on the X platform: "We share this achievement with the Syrian people, who sacrificed themselves to restore Syria to its rightful place. Now, work has begun toward a great Syria, praise be to God, Lord of the Worlds."
The US President had met with the Syrian President in Riyadh earlier today, in the presence of the Saudi Crown Prince. Photos published by the Saudi Press Agency showed the meeting between them, which took place before the start of the Gulf-US summit.
SPA also reported that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan participated in the meeting via telephone.
